These multiple day hikes connecting different resorts in the region can be done without a guide. On the hike to Gomismta we can offer a mountain hut for the overnight stay. For the hike to Goderdzi we recommend a tent.
easy 2 day hike, sleeping in a moiuntain hut
A beautiful and not too difficult two-day hike leads from Bakhmaro via Meria Keli to Gomismta. For the first part to Meria Keli 3 different trails are possible.
The second part of the two-day hike goes from Meria Keli with the option to hike the peak of Taginauri [2'688m] to Gomismta or to Jvari Mindori.
2 or 3 day hike carring a tent
From Bakhmaro a 2 or 3 day hike leads to the mountain pass of Goderdzi in Adjara.
For now it is necessary to carry a tent for the nights.
The hike starts at the bridge below The PIONEERS. Cross the river and follow the summer road to Phaphara (to the right/west). A steep dirt road goes up to the highest houses and from there keep going up until you reach the crosses on top of Patara Phaphara.
Now you can follow the ridge uphill. After the next kind of peak you can traverse into the valley on the right side. stay right until you reach the sattle on around 2'700m.
You have the choice to hike further up to the summit of Sarkornia [2'755m] which will take around half an hour, or descent directly towards Meria Keli. There you need to cross the river and hike up again to the houses.
The Wolfsbed Hut is the hut at the highest point above the alp village.
It is a steep hike - uphill and downhill.

The hike starts at the bridge below The PIONEERS [1'900m]. Cross the river and follow the summer road to Phaphara (to the right/west). Before the road goes up to the alp houses a dirt road goes a bit right into the Bakhvi gorge. Follow this track till you enter a wider open area with wet medows. On the other side of this open space you can climp up into the trees and you reach the summer road to Baisura.
Follow the summer road till you reach a stream. Behind this stream are 3 or 4 huts. Shortly after you con choose the upper left track to short cut the huts of Baisura [1'950m]. Follow the sirt road up the valley till you reach the ridge.
From there it is sometimes difficult to see the track it goes down
Now you have the choice to hike further up to the summit of Sarkornia [2'755m] which will take around one hour, or descent directly towards Meria Keli. There you need to cross the river and hike up again to the houses.

It is a longer but scenic hike. This would be our recommendation.

As always the hike starts at the PIONEERS. From there follow the river upstream - on either side of the river possible - until you need to follow the street to the Hotel Bakhmaro. On the opposite side of the road Guria Street is going up the slope. You can follow a dirt road into a small valley. Unfortunately this formerly beautiful valley was destroyed by many illegal building.
You can follow the trail until the old airfield at the Chokhatauri-Bakhmaro road. Cross the road where you find an official hiking map describing the second part of the trail. Follow the dirt road to Sachewakho and from there around Sunset Mountain. From the side of Small Bakhmaro the track goes up to the top.
On a beautiful day in the summer you will share the view with a hundred other people.

On the first day of the 2-or 3-day hike from Bakhmaro to Goderdzi Pass you need to ascent to the Meshketi Range.
We descibe here a 2-day version passing a sattle soutwest of Mt. Zoti. In Bakhmaro start at the bridge below The PIONEERS and follow the Bakhvi river upstream. There is a beautifull shepards trail starting next at the end of the road below Buksieti. First it goes through the forest with a good water spring to refill the bottles and then closer to the river into the gorge. Cross the river - from July till September you will find a basic wooden bridge and follow the trail till Zoti Keli [2'000m].
From there you have a long ascent to the sattle and after that a long descent without a spring. The first spring we found on the summer road. From there follow the little ridge towards Mt. Gora. There is a spring at around 2'200m and towards the West is a nice spot to camp with a great sunset view. Alternatively, hike a bit further to the alp village of Gora at around 1'900m.

Distance: 21 km
Ascent/Descent: 1'050m/970m

The second day is with 25km a very loong day. That is why we also work on a 3-day version of this trail.
After descending to the river it is easy to cross it as there is a bridge. On the other side follows a long ascent passing the village. One option is to hike all the way up to the peak of
Chanchakhi [2'507m] which is shorter in distance but means also more vertical meters.
At the foot of the mountain you pass the beautifull village of and from there it is not far to Green Lake [2'080m]. Acctually the lake is a very nice finishing point as the concrete road from there to Goderdzi Pass is not nice to walk and there is no alternative towards the pass.
